We had a great (very quick!) visit with our family down in Georgia. Eowyn loves her grandparents and great-grandparents, and of course her Uncle Nathan & Aunt Courtney! The jury is still out on Sarah (their boxer), though.Once upon a time, this was my would-be photography site. Then, a darling, dimpled, chubby-cheeked cherub entered our arms, and our camera flashes were quickly turned to chronicling every moment of her precious life. Check in for your daily dose of Éowyn Grace. Everybody needs some.

Aunt Courtney's Graduation

Eowyn got to witness her first ever graduation ceremony, and watched her last aunt graduate from high school! She especially admired Aunt Courtney's tassel. :) Congraduations!!

First Finger Food

Up until now Eowyn's just squished whatever food was in front of her, and then wanted her hands wiped clean. You may ask: she puts everything else in her mouth, why not food? I have no idea. She finally did experiment and enjoyed gnawing on this (steamed and soft) carrot piece. However, she kept choking mildly on the pieces... she hasn't quite mastered chewing. I put it in a Munchkin "Fresh Food Feeder" and she LOVED that, and I didn't have to keep checking to make sure she was breathing again.Thursday, May 27, 2010
First Bathing Suit
Blythe & I took our kiddos to the new sprayground in Shelby Park (the one just across the street from us). It was a hot hot day, and the kids loved the water! Eowyn really enjoyed watching Magnus tear around through the fountains, and she got so frustrated when she'd try to grab the water, and instead of getting something in her hand, she got sprayed in the face! Oh well, she liked getting wet and I think next time we come I'll have to be in a wettable suit myself, because I doubt she'll sit still for as long next time!

With Eleanor

Here you can see her in her change of clothes... Eleanor's mama (Amanda) & I met for dessert at "Sweet Surrender," on Frankfort Ave. Their gluten-free options are quite exciting, and their flourless chocolate cake is impeccable. Wow.
The girls again enjoyed each other, but mostly pulled to stand (Eowyn) and crawled behind the counter (Eleanor).
First Field Day

It was hot! Eowyn & I tried to stick in the shade for her first (and my last, for a while) DSCS Field Day! She devoured her avocado and water, and very much enjoyed watching the "big kids." She's wearing one of her daddy's baby outfits-- super cute!! I couldn't get a good shot, though, and unfortunately she threw up all over it before I could try again. :(

Summertime!

Eowyn & I spent a good chunk of our afternoon with my buddy Blythe and her two boys- Magnus (2) and Gunnar (almost 4 mos). Gunnar is HUGE, as you can see from this picture, weighing the same as Eowyn (almost 8 mos old) and only a wee bit shorter! I wish I could have snapped a shot of E & Magnus, who were quite taken with each other and entertained each other wonderfully all afternoon. Isn't this outfit ADORABLE?? Thank you, Aunt Anne (and Uncle Rusty)!! And thanks to Jessica C. for the sandals, which are actually useful now that she's crawling and pulling up on everything!
Isn't it amazing that just 4 days ago she was in long sleeves & pants!?

Laughing at Daddy's Singing
Eowyn loves to laugh when her daddy sings to her! She doesn't laugh very much, and when she does, this is how it sounds!

Eowyn-Grace-Elizabeth
Ok; if we work together, I KNOW we can break out of here!
Ruffles? How interesting...
Who are you and why are you looking at us?Our friends Samuel & Natasha's daughter, Grace Elizabeth, is exactly 2 weeks younger than Eowyn. It's really fun to watch them interact. I wish I could have gotten a picture of Eowyn trying to crawl over Grace, and Grace totally content because she had Eowyn's bow in her hand (still on Eowyn's head). Eowyn literally crawls circles around Grace, who gets around by rolling. Sometimes Grace looks like she really wants to follow Eowyn, and starts flappling like she's trying to fly!

Investigation

Eowyn comes with me when I put out the laundry-- one day I know she'll help me-- and she LOVES "investigating," aka tasting and touching, every blade of grass, twig, or piece of leaf she can find. I watch her as closely as I can, but I've given up on trying to keep natural objects out of her mouth... a little dirt never hurt anyone, and there are no toxic plants back there...

Grilling Out to Say Goodbye
One of our friends from church, Ben, just graduated from seminary and is headed back to California with his wife, Chelsea, their 1 1/2 year old son Noah, and one on the way! They had a big grill-out in Cherokee Park so we could all say good-bye. It was so fun to see so many church friends that I almost forgot to be sad that they're leaving. Almost.
Eowyn's pant knees got dirty from her crawling around. First time that's happened! She's lost her aversion to crawling on grass, and tries diligently to eat her allotted pound of grass/dirt a year. Yuck.
